Jacksonville parents charged with child neglect after children found wandering

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Monday 7:33 a.m. UPDATE: 

The parents of two small children are charged with child neglect after the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office them wandering around a parking lot on Sunday, leading JSO to issue a community-wide alert as they tried to identify them. 

Action News Jax learned both parents were gone for a couple of hours, and supposedly left two teenagers in charge.  

Officers gave the children toys, Cheetos, and Gatorade and were reported to be happy at the time police made contact with them.

One child was walkiung around with only a shirt and no under clothing, according to a report from JSO. 

The other child had only a diaper on that had been soiled. 

DCF responded to the scene.  

UPDATE at 5:52 p.m.: Jacksonville police said the children have been identified.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is trying to identify two children.

They children are said to be safe and with police.

Police are asking anyone who knows these children or where they belong to contact JSO at 904-630-0500.
