Jury finds local man guilty in 2009 murder

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A jury found Raymond Wayne Breeden, 46, guilty Friday afternoon for his involvement in the 2009 slaying of 70-year-old Lola Faulk.

Breeden was found guilty of murder in the first degree and armed burglary with assault or battery.

In July, 2009, Faulk's grandson found his grandmother beaten and shot to death inside of her Shellcracker Road home.

The victim's dog was also found dead, lying on top of the victim's body.

The investigation revealed that Breeden and two co-defendants broke into Faulk’s home to commit a burglary.

Several items were taken from the home, including a large television.

In the midst of the burglary, Faulk was shot multiple times in the head and struck with a concrete block.

Breeden now faces life in prison. His sentencing date will be set on July 28.
