Kid Care Report: Day care off Chaffee Road cited for violations linked to sleep practices

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Every week Action News Jax investigates local child care centers to show you how they measure up to state guidelines. In this week's Kid Care report, Letisha Bereola shows you a day care with violations linked to safe sleep practices.

At Chosen One's Learning Center LLC off Chaffee Road there were 21 kids and 5 staff members present when the state inspector dropped in. The inspector tagged the center for two class 2 violations, which could pose a threat to the health and safety of a child, according to the state. The first was for staff not being within sight and hearing of all the children during nap time. In the second, the inspector noted three cribs had items inside that could pose a strangulation or suffocation risk.

Both violations were fixed on the spot. Bereola stopped by Chosen One's Learning Center to talk to the director, but a woman told said she wasn't available.

The next day care in this week's kid care report is Kreative Minds Academy on Dunn Avenue.

Everything from training to sanitation passed the inspection—it was 100% compliant during this visit.
