Kid Care Report: Tadpoles & Toads

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Tadpoles & Toads on Lone Star Road in Jacksonville is in the spotlight because of the number of violations the center picked up on its most recent state inspection.  The DCF Inspector uncovered eight violations.  Some of the problems the center got cited for were serious.

A ratio of 1 staff for 6 children is required.  There was 1 staff for 9 children observed.  The facility did not have documentation of an annual vehicle inspection for a vehicle used to transport children in care.  And the play equipment was not safe for the children to use in that the wooden apparatus had three slots missing from the upper guard rail.  Some of the issues were fixed right away and the center got a little time to correct other problems.  Still, the center Missed The Mark.

There were a number of places with violation free inspections.  

Arora's Clubhouse Childcare and Wonderworks OPUMC both in Orange Park did well.  In Jacksonville, there's Kidz Korner Learning Center, Audrey's Angels, Jacksonville Urban League Normandy Head Start. and Shepherd of the Woods Lutheran School.  Kudos to them for the impressive work they do.
