Kidnapping, armed robbery suspect expected in court

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man who is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Jacksonville Beach, abducting her family and then abducting another woman in Jacksonville was arrested Tuesday night.

Brian Fogerty, 41, is expected to appear Wednesday afternoon in Duval County Court.

He was arrested after the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office received a tip from a citizen about his whereabouts.

Police conducted a traffic stop near North Main Street and 25th Street and arrested Fogerty, who was found hiding in the vehicle.

Fogerty used various spellings of his name as aliases.

Baker County Sheriff's Office said Fogarty also confessed to several crimes in the county including an armed robbery Saturday night at a gas station.

He was armed with a machete and got away with approximately $300. No one was injured.

Sheriff Joey Dobson said he also committed several burglaries in the county.

JSO said the U.S. Marshals Service and Clay County deputies helped in the search for Fogerty.

Police began searching for Fogerty on Sunday after they said he entered a Jacksonville Beach business and approached a woman at knifepoint.
