Lennar provides paralyzed veteran with customized St. Johns County home

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A local wounded Marine is home for good.

Cpl. Chris Natto endured a horrific training accident less than a year ago. Last February, Natto was paralyzed during a parachute training exercise in North Carolina.

Cpl. Natto and his young family now have a new place to call their own in St. Johns County near World Golf Village.

“We’ve been living with my in-laws the last month,” Cpl. Natto said. “Going from a hospital to a home setting brings to mind how inaccessible some places are for a wheelchair.”

After cutting the ribbon, Natto was able to see how those issues are a thing of the past in his 2,300-square-foot home.

It has amenities such as lowered counters and sink in the kitchen, and a lowered bed.

Builder Lennar Homes provided the house to the Natto family for free.

“We tried to think of everything. We opened doors, widened the bathroom, so he can be there for his son,” said Matt Deveraux of Lennar Homes.
