Luxury car thief sought after stolen Maserati found in St. Johns County

For Cody White, of Ray’s Tire Pros, Tuesday was no ordinary day.

“They called me on the phone. They said that someone stole a Maserati,” said White. “They asked me to come pick it up.”

Deputies had tracked a stolen 2015 Maserati Gran Turismo to a home in St. Johns County.

White said he towed the car from the Palencia home. “It sounded good. it was beautiful,” he said. “It was like a spaceship inside of there.”

The Miramar Police Department had been following the case after the car had been stolen not once, but twice, in South Florida. Officers said it was taken the first time in Miami on Dec. 22.

It was recovered, but two days later the same thieves stole it again, officers said. The car was recovered again in St. Johns County.

According to the police report obtained by Action News Jax, the home at which the Maserati was found is owned by a car dealer. The report said he did not want to speak with police about the car.

When we tried reaching the homeowner and his wife by phone, they did not want to speak with us either.

It is important to note police have not made any arrests at this time, and wouldn’t say if there were any suspects. The Maserati is worth an estimated $175,000.
