Orange Park man accused of murdering woman caught in Jacksonville

(UPDATE at 2:30 p.m.):

The Clay County Sheriff's Office provided an update Wednesday afternoon on the Orange Park domestic-related homicide after announcing the arrest of a man accused of fatally stabbing his wife.

Kenneth Poythress is accused of stabbing his wife, Curthisa Poythress, on Sunday at an Orange Park home in the Argyle area.

Sheriff Darryl Daniels said Poythress was found and arrested in a Jacksonville home on Wednesday morning. No one was in the home, authorities said. The house was listed as his address.

Daniels said the victim's mother and victim's niece were the others injured during the domestic incident.

Daniels said he wants victims of domestic violence to have a safe space and recommends them to go to Hubbard House and Quigley House for their needs.

"Domestic violence will not be tolerated in Clay County," Daniels said.

The man who is accused of killing his wife, and stabbing another woman and child has been caught, the Clay County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office was searching for Kenneth Leonard Poythress, 36, since the domestic-related homicide that occurred Sunday afternoon in the 400 block of Heron Court.

The child had minor injuries and the woman who survived had life-threatening injuries, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Poythress faces charges including one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder and armed burglary.

Deputies said authorities arrested Poythress in Jacksonville Wednesday morning. He will be taken to the Clay County Detention Center later Wednesday.
