Man armed with brick robs Jacksonville home, police say

Roy Miller

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man accused of breaking into a home Tuesday morning was armed with a brick, Jacksonville police said.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded just before 1 a.m. to an alarm at a home in the 3300 block of Rosselle Street.

The victim told police that the suspect, Roy Miller, 30, has been trying to make contact for the last couple of nights so he could receive money. The victim told police that Miller is a drug user.

The victim met the suspect at the back door with a bat, but Miller forced his way inside the home armed with a brick, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The two began to wrestle over the bat, bumped a counter during a struggle and money fell to the ground, police said. Miller grabbed the money and ran, they said.

It is not known how much money Miller took.

Police apprehended Miller around 2 a.m. near Nelson and Rayford streets. He is charged with home invasion robbery with a weapon.
