The wife of the man who drove his car into a house in Macclenny that caught fire Wednesday night said she knew something was wrong when he didn't arrive home on time.

"He's like clockwork, what he does. He tells you what he does," Patricia Jones said. "And if he's going to be late, he calls me."

Larry Jones, 55,  drove his pickup truck into a home Wednesday night. The crash caused the truck and garage to catch fire, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash happened at Birch Street and Pine Avenue. The pickup truck, garage and vehicle in the garage were destroyed by the fire.

FHP said they do not believe the home that was driven into was the driver's house. No one was home at the time of the crash.

Jones said that the wreck happened a block away from her house.

"I knew he was dead. I knew that no one else had gotten hurt, which I was thankful," she said.

Larry Jones had Stage 4 cancer, his wife said. "My closure is that he's not going to suffer anymore," she said.

She said she had a lot of health problems and that her husband was hardworking and took care of her.
