Sheriff's Office asks for information in fatal hit-and-run

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office has a suspect but is waiting on evidence to make an arrest in connection with a fatal hit-and-run.

Authorities found a man lying unconscious in the road on A1A South at Florida Avenue late Tuesday night.

The victim, identified as 53-year-old Robert Dale Louk, died at Flagler Hospital.

A witness told detectives she saw a white Toyota pickup truck hit the man and drive off.

Investigators located the pickup truck several miles away.

The suspect refused to cooperate with investigators.

They got a search warrant for the pickup truck and a blood sample from the suspect.

Charges are pending against the suspect, who has not been identified.

But investigators on Friday said they are confident they have the right man.

Detectives are now appealing to the public for more information on what happened that night.

They want to talk to anyone who can piece together what happened prior to the crash, and information leading to the identies of people who may have been in the pickup at the time of the incident.

Call Crime Stoppers at 888-277-8477.  You will remain anonymous and could receive a cash reward of up to $1,000 if your tip leads to an arrest.
