Man sought after suspicious incident at Lake City Winn-Dixie

Lake City police need help in looking for a man who they say is in connection to a suspicious incident that happened at a Winn-Dixie.

On Tuesday, a mother and her 14-year-old boy said they were approached by a man while they were shopping at the store.

According to the statement, the man asked the teenager to play hide and seek with him "to scare his mother."

The teenager did not know the man, police said.

Lake City police said that in surveillance video, the man could be seen approaching the teen and mother at a self-check-out line and tapped the teen on the shoulder.

The teen and man then walked to a bench and sat down talking to each other until the mother was done checking out.

Police said the man looks like he might be in his 50s, is heavy-set and has dark hair.

Investigators have asked the public that if they have any information regarding the man to please call Sgt. Craig Strickland at (386)-752-4343.
