Man stabbed in Jacksonville road-rage incident

A man was followed back to his home by another driver and attacked on Friday afternoon.

Witnesses told Action News Jax it started with road rage.

It was tires screeching and people screaming outside his home that caused Jonathan Durst to run outside to see what was going on and he said he saw two cars parked near the mailboxes.

"The guy followed him in and rammed the car. They got out about here and scuffled," Durst said.

Moments before it happened, one of the driver’s friends said he called him on the way home and said he cut someone off on Beach Boulevard and that driver was following him.

Once he pulled into his neighborhood, the other driver followed and confronted him.

“The driver of the second car cut the tenant in the wrist then left,” Durst said.

The victim’s friend said that the passenger in the car also started attacking him and that’s when the other driver pulled out a knife and stabbed his friend twice and then drove away.

"It escalated really quickly,” Durst said.

Action News Jax crime and safety expert Ken Jefferson said to never engage with a driver who seems to have road rage -- just call police.

“Don’t ever, ever pull over on the side of the road and engage with them. That's what they want you to do and it could never be a good meeting in a situation like that," Jefferson said.

Jefferson said as the holiday season ramps up, so will road-rage incidents.

"Simply because people are coming and going, more traffic on the street this time of year. People are more stressed than normal,” Jefferson said.

A witness said the suspects were in a black Mercedes.
