Man tasered after threatening to shoot up St. Johns County M Shack

Deputies tasered and arrested a man after he threatened to shoot up a St. Johns County M Shack, police said.

Deputies were called to the M Shack on Crosswater Parkway in Ponte Vedra Beach Friday after 28-year-old Kevin Payne threatened to shoot people, authorities said.

Employees told deputies that Payne also shouted profanities at the general manager and refused to leave the restaurant.

He was sitting at a high-top table by himself when deputies got to the restaurant.

Payne refused to walk outside with deputies when they told him that management wanted him to leave.

Deputies told Payne he was under arrest, but he jerked away from them and refused to move.

They restrained him and took him outside, where he continued to resist, deputies said.

Deputies brought Payne to the ground and used a Taser on him after he began to kick and thrash.

He was arrested and charged with breach of peace, trespassing after a warning, resisting with violence and violation of probation.
