Monday's rainy weather likely cause of dozens of traffic crashes

Monday morning’s wet weather may have played a role in dozens of crashes across our area.

Morning lighting over the Westside set an ominous scene over parts over the west beltway, where Action News Jax came across several crashes on I-295. Our news crew saw a pick-up truck teetering on a guardrail, and several fender benders.

JSO says some wrecks in the area had reported injuries, and closed lanes to create back-ups during the Monday morning commute.

“Busy, people are speeding not taking precautions, not slowing down,” driver John Allen said about driving during the weather conditions.

The Florida Highway Patrol says troopers went to at least 44 crashes this morning. While investigators say weather may not have caused all of them, they say the weather likely did contribute to them.
