Monument for local slain soldier vandalized

A memorial for fallen service members at Sandalwood High School was vandalized last week.

Someone stole the replica rifle and helmet from the memorial.

The organization Florida Fallen Heroes was started by Dave Seamans, whose son Pfc.Timothy Seamans, was killed by an improvised explosive device in Iraq.

He was 20 years old.

His father began the organization to place the monument of the battlefield cross at high schools with alumni who were killed while serving in the armed forces.

There are 14 monuments in North East Florida, and each is worth around $7,000.

“Its disrespectful. They’re defacing a monument,” Seamans said.

Seamans hopes his message will move the thief or thieves to do the right thing and come forward.
