Multiple shots fired at homes in Jacksonville's Avondale neighborhood

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said people in a home on Talbot Avenue in Avondale heard gunshots and then heard their bathroom window break Monday night.

Other neighbors also came out of their home and told JSO they saw a red Hyundai Sonata slow down in front of a home on Randall Street.

The report states a neighbor heard seven gunshots and then the car sped away from the house.

Neighbor Melanie Reading said her neighbor came and knocked on her door to let her know what was going on.

“When I looked over there, I seen about two to three JSO officers looking in the bushes and stuff,” Reading said.

Officers saw a hole in the home's window on Randall Street and went inside to do a well-being check.

They say they found a woman sleeping inside. She was safe and unhurt.

Reading said they have a neighborhood watch in their area.

“If we see anything odd we'll tell our neighbor,” Reading said.

Neighbors say they will be keeping an eye out for that car that was spotted taking off after the sound of gunshots.
