A bomb squad had to be called in after a military ordnance was discovered near two schools in Nassau County.
The bomb was found by a construction crew working in the area. The incident happened just as Nassau County schoolchildren were returning to school from Christmas break.
A source told Action News Jax that the bomb was a World War II-era ordinance and that a team from Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay traveled to Nassau County to assist in its removal.
