UNITED STATES — UPDATE 11/17/2019 AT 3:38 A.M.: Payment processing has been restored and is fully complete, according to Navy Federal.
Processing is fully complete and all transactions are now available. We know this is frustrating for our members and we apologize.

Navy Federal Credit Union tweeted that it's experiencing a problem processing payments, leaving many customers without a way to pay their bills Saturday night.
We're experiencing an issue with our phone lines and transactions made to accounts. Transactions made during the system issue will be available after the issue is resolved and processing is complete. We understand our members' frustration and apologize for the inconvenience.

Twitter followers vented their frustrations in the comment section. Some complained about not having a way to pay restaurant bills after eating their meals. Others were angry about the lack of communication to customers, saying that Navy Federal only alerted customers of the outage via Twitter, not the bank's app.
This is unacceptable. And Twitter is not how you should be notifying your customers. Mass email to let people know before they go out. I used to love Navy Federal but now it's a joke.

I just got off the phone with their rep and ask if they were going to send out a mass text or email stating the visa system is down. He said we have to rely on social media. Sorry but I don't follow you on social media. Treat your members better.

Found out no transactions would go through wile shopping at the Nex. Lots of unhappy Sailors as they prepare to ship out and have no access to their money.

I’m quite literally on a date right now. Getting declined. The longer this takes the more pain I endure. I better get compensation for the emotional trauma 😔
