Neighbor calls 911 after finding woman's body in home

Neighbors are worried for a man’s safety after they said his mom was found in a pool of blood and they haven’t been able to get hold of him.

Police were on scene investigating for more than eight hours on Tuesday on Mossbrook Court in the Cherokee Cove subdivision.

A woman, whom we aren’t identifying since there is an ongoing investigation, said her neighbor’s girlfriend came to her house Tuesday morning asking if she has seen her boyfriend and his mom.

“I said no actually, I haven’t I thought they were on vacation. I haven’t seen them in a few days,” the woman said.

That’s when she said the girlfriend went to their home and the backdoor was open and she saw the woman’s body.

“I called 911, we went back into the house and I seen her laying in a pool of blood between her bed and her dresser,” the woman said.

Although police have not released her exact cause of death they said she had extensive injuries.

“I seen a stab wound in her back I believe, and her neck was pretty torn up,” the woman said.

She said that dispatch asked her to check on the woman.

“She was stiff, she was probably there at least a day,” the woman said, “I feel like there were signs of struggle. There were clumps of hair everywhere. Not a pretty sight at all.”

Officers believe the woman was between 50 and 60 years old.

And the neighbor said she lived in the home with her son, whose vehicle is still in the driveway, but she said the woman’s car is gone.

“I tried calling him and his phone went straight to voicemail,” she said.

JSO has not publicly identified the woman who died.

Neighbors said they don’t believe the woman’s son is involved in her death because they were really close.
