Neighbors: Teen shot by her ex-boyfriend, man killed in North Jacksonville shooting

Multiple neighbors living off Melanie Avenue say the 16-year-old that was shot over the weekend is Summer Tatum.

Neighbors say the teen is now clinging to life at a local hospital.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said she and another man were both shot at the same home over the weekend. The man didn’t survive.

Neighbors say Summer's mother’s boyfriend is the other man who was shot and killed.

Neighbors say they’ve been speaking with Summer's grandmother to see how she is doing.

“She’s in bad shape, they don’t know which way she’s going to go. She’s on a life support machine,” said neighbor David Williams.

Williams lives a few houses down and says he heard the shots over the weekend.

“We heard the shots, we were inside the house. It went 'bam, bam, bam.' Seconds later, it went 'bam, bam,'” Williams said.

Neighbors say Summer’s ex-boyfriend is the suspect, but JSO has not confirmed that.
