Neighbors: Used syringes, prostitution, drugs plaguing Jacksonville neighborhood

Photos of used syringes tossed into ditches and yards in Pine Forest were sent to the Action News Jax newsroom by fed up neighbors.

William Hill said it’s been an ongoing issue for years and he’s had enough.

“Syringes in all the ditches all the way from the drug house around the corner, well there's two of them,” said Hill.

Action News Jax spotted several children in the neighborhood, making the potentially infected needles that much more concerning.

“You'll never see a child on the street that there’s not a parent almost within reach,” Hill said.

Hill said many of the problems have come from a nearby home where he suspects drug activity has been attracting the wrong crowd.

“Meth, crack, prostitution nonstop,” Hill said.

In the last year alone, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has been out to one of the homes 18 times. At least two of those instances was for a drug investigation.

“SWAT goes in there and arrests everybody but why can they make that many arrests and nobody say ‘OK that's a dope house?’” said Hill.

The city said the property was cited in May for garbage and debris issues and it remains in violation. The case will be transferred to abatement for debris removal.

Hill said he’s considering leaving the neighborhood if nothing is done.

“Somebody's got to do something,” Hill said.
