New red-light cameras going up on Southside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is putitng in four new cameras to catch red-light runners.

The locations:

  • Eastbound at Beach Boulevard and San Pablo Road
  • Eastbound at Beach Boulevard and St. Johns Bluff Road
  • Westbound at Beach Boulevard and St. Johns Bluff Road
  • Eastbound at Gate Parkway and Southside Boulevard

There will be a 30-day grace period for those cameras starting Thursday at 11:59 p.m.

People who run the red light will get a warning.

After the grace period, anyone caught running the red light will get a notice of violation.

The fine for running a red light is $158.  It's far less than the $262 ticket given by a police officer.
