One dead, injured in hit-and-run crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — One person is dead and another critically injured after a hit-and-run crash early Tuesday morning.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded around 3:05 a.m. to the intersection of Old Middleburg and Hipps roads. Officers who arrived to the scene found a man, 35-year-old Robert Christmans, dead and a woman injured lying on the side of Old Middleburg Rd. in the grass.

The unidentified woman is receiving treatment for serious injuries at UF Health Jacksonville.

It is believed that the man and woman were walking down Old Middleburg Road when a vehicle hit them, JSO said.

The intersection of Old Middleburg Hipps roads were closed for a couple of hours while police investigated.

Officers say there are no witnesses at this time and seeking the public's help.
