Officials: Urgent need for blood donations for Harvey victims

OneBlood officials sent almost 300 units of blood to Texas for Harvey victims, but they are still in need of more donations.

Officials are urging people with all blood types to donate, but there is an urgent call for O negative and O positive blood, platelet and plasma donations.

Officials said the scenario is expected to continue for the foreseeable future.

Generally healthy people age 16 or older who weigh at least 110 pounds can donate blood.

Photo identification is required.
