Orange Park teen charged in tortoise torture case

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — The girl who tortured and burned a tortoise in a video posted online was officially charged with animal cruelty at a Clay County Courthouse.

Eighteen-year-old Jennifer Greene was charged with felony cruelty to animals on Saturday morning.  Greene was also charged with a misdemeanor – to take/harass/harm/kill a gopher tortoise.

Greene is being held on a $55,005 bond, $50,003 for the felony and $5,002 for the misdemeanor.

Her next court date is Aug. 17 at 9 a.m.
