JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A local mom and pop restaurant in Ortega is asking the community’s backing.
Simply Sara’s has been open for five years and prides itself in farm fresh ingredients and homemade cookies, jellies and recipes.
Owner James Mangham and his wife Sara make farmer’s markets run several times a week, get poultry from Georgia farms and get seafood straight from the fishing docks.
While some customers show up faithfully, many have no idea the business is nestled in the Shoppes of Ortega. Despite growing competition from fast food chains, the owners plan to stay the course.
“Just keep focus on the food. That’s it’s all about. Food. It’s an intimate thing feeding people, so we take it seriously. Come on out and have a good southern meal and have great service,” Mangham said.
Simply Sara's also takes meals to the elderly and shut-in, for no delivery fee.
They also cater and help with The Healing Hearts charity through Wolfson Children's Hospital.
If you’d like to drop in and try them out, they’re open Tuesday through Saturday.
Their website is: simplysaras.net.
