Police investigating possible child abduction in Jacksonville

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is asking for the community's assistance during an investigation of a reported possible abduction.

On Sunday shortly after 1 a.m., JSO responded to a reported possible kidnapping in the 1600 block of Kings Road.

Witnesses observed a heavyset black male conversing with a black female -- between 7 and 10 years old -- wearing pajamas.

The male was said to have picked the child up and place her into a silver or gray Chevy Impala without any resistance.

The male was described as 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8 with a low haircut and wearing a black shirt and blue jean shorts.

It is unknown at this time whether a crime has occurred.
