Driver killed in single-vehicle crash in Clay County

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A 20-year-old died in a car crash early Thursday morning in Clay County.

The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 6:30 a.m. on US-17 south near Decoy Road.

The driver, Jake Davis, was driving a Chevy Silverado in the outside lane when for unknown reasons veered into a grass ditch and overturned. Davis was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected in the crash, FHP said.

Davis died from his injuries.
