Police: Jacksonville man gave former coworker free gas, beer

A Southside gas station employee is accused of stealing items from the store and giving them to a former coworker.

Paul Ryan, 23, was arrested Tuesday after police reviewed surveillance video from inside the Kangaroo on Baymeadows Rd.

According to the arrest report, the footage shows Ryan take $100 from the safe behind the counter and hand it to the subject, who’s a former employee at the gas station.

Police said Ryan also gave the subject a 4-pack of beer, 6 cartons of cigarettes, cigars and $40 worth of fuel, all free of charge.

Ryan was charged with employee theft.

His bond was set at $5,003.
