Police: Woman finds homeless man touching himself in her backyard in Jacksonville Beach

A homeless man was arrested after a woman told police that she saw a man touching himself in her backyard on Thursday night.

Police were called to the woman's home on Fifth Avenue North in Jacksonville Beach just before 9:45 p.m. Thursday.

The woman told officers she was sitting on her couch when she looked through a sliding glass door and saw the man touching himself in the corner of her patio.

She said she ran to a neighbor's house to call police.

Officers found the screen to her bedroom window on the ground and fresh hand prints on the window.

The gate to an alleyway behind her house was partially open, but no one was in the backyard.

A K-9 found Robert Twiggs, 37, laying down under a covered entryway at Church of Christ Jax Beach, a few blocks from the woman's house.

Twiggs told police he had been there for approximately five minutes and was stopping to charge his cellphone.

Police said they noticed the zipper on the front of his jeans was undone.

They questioned Twiggs, then arrested him.

Twiggs is charged with burglary, exposure of sexual organs and voyeurism.

Jacksonville Beach police said officers have gotten several calls about an unknown person in people's backyards beginning Jan. 10.

Police were called twice to a home on Sixth Avenue North after reports of an unknown person in the victim's backyard.

Police were also called to a home on Fifth Avenue North after another report of a man in someone's backyard.

Police were unable to find any suspects in any of the cases.

Police found finger prints on the woman's bedroom window and the screen on the ground. This was the fourth time someone in the area called police about a stranger in their backyard:
