Pregnant pizza delivery driver robbed at gunpoint in Jacksonville

A pregnant pizza delivery driver said she had a gun pointed to her head during a robbery in West Jacksonville.

Ashley McLean, who is five-months' pregnant and a mother of three children, said she was lured to a home on McQuade Street on Nov. 25 just before 10 p.m.

She said she walked onto the porch and knocked on the front door when two suspects, who were crouched on the ground, stood up and demanded money and belongings.

“It was like give me your money, give me your keys,” McLean said. “I told them I was pregnant so and it still didn’t matter to them.”

McLean said the suspects stole $9.

Police said an alert neighbor saw the robbery happening and called 911.

John Perry told Action News Jax he saw the pizza delivery driver walking up to his neighbor’s house.

He said he immediately knew it was odd because his neighbor was at work.

Perry said he saw McLean walk onto the porch and then two silhouettes popped up from the ground.

“You could see the silhouette of the gun. He got a gun in his hand aimed at this woman,” Perry said.

As soon as police arrived on the street, Perry said he yelled at the teens to stop. He said the suspects took off running.

Police set up a perimeter and found one of the suspects, 18-year-old Javontae Washington, running through a neighbor’s backyard.

The report said an officer tased Washington after he tried to jump over a fence in an attempt to escape.

JSO said the second teen was found hiding underneath a truck.

The suspect’s name is redacted in the report because he’s listed a juvenile.

The report said the firearm was found in the yard of a nearby home.

Washington is set to be arraigned Dec. 18.
