Putnam County Sheriff's Office: Toddler found unresponsive by family member has passed away

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office said in a press conference on Thursday a toddler was found unresponsive in pond by a family member at 193 Ridge Lake Road, Pomona Park, Fla.

The Sheriff's Office and Emergency Management were on scene for reports of the possible drowning.

The 20-month-old's grandfather performed life-saving measures until rescue arrived on scene, according to police.

The Sheriff's Office said the toddler was transported to a hospital in Palatka. Deputies said hospital staff continued to perform life-saving measures until there was nothing else they could do.

The Sheriff's Office said the child has passed away.

Deputies said they are investigation the incident along with the Department of Children and Families.
