Families renew push to solve young woman's murder

Two young women who were killed just a day apart: Amber Bass and Shelby Farah were murdered nearly 4 years ago.

The family of Farah has justice after James Xavier Rhodes of Jacksonville had been sentenced to life in prison on Thursday for killing the young woman during a robbery in 2013.

Rhodes, 25, pleaded guilty to murder and other charges as part of a deal with prosecutors. He had been facing a possible death sentence.

But this resolution has ignited a push to solve the murder of Amber Bass, who was killed a day after Farah's murder.

Action News Jax showed you the moment Farrah's mother addressed her daughter’s killer James Rhodes.

Bass’s sister Robin Lezacano said she is happy to see Farah’s family get justice, but it’s bittersweet.

“If anything else, it ignites this fire in me to get this case solved,” Lezcano said.

Lezcano runs the “Justice for Amber” Facebook page, which hopes to spark fresh tips in the case.

The only clue that authorities have for Bass' case is that the young woman's purse had been missing at the scene of the crime.
