Report: Jacksonville woman claimed to be doctor, bought award at trophy shop

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said Monday that they had arrested a Jacksonville woman accused of posing as a doctor.

Amy Pohlman, 48, is charged with two counts of practicing as a health care professional without a license.  Pohlman is being held in the The St. Johns County Jail on $50,000 bail.

According to authorities, Pohlman was hired as a home health care nurse in Ponte Vedra Beach in 2015 after claiming to be a registered nurse with a doctorate degree.

Pohlman eventually wrote up care plans and visited clients before beginning work as an independent care manager.

The company that employed Pohlman became suspicious in 2016 and couldn't find an valid license for her, authorities said.

Polhman reportedly quit after this was discovered. Polhman reportedly displayed an award from the Mayo Clinic in her office.

An investigation later revealed Pohlman had purchased the plaque herself at a Jacksonville trophy store.  The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who had contact with Pohlman contact them at (904) 209-2161.
