Off-duty officer takes robbery suspect into custody in Springfield

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A robbery suspect was taken into custody Wednesday night after police said he attempted to rob the Paradise Food Mart in Springfield.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the suspect acted as if he had a gun under his shirt and robbed the store.

An off-duty officer in uniform was nearby, chased the suspect and arrested him.

The officer had to use a Taser to subdue the suspect, JSO said.

The suspect was not identified by police late Wednesday night.
