Residents post speeding concerns in Jacksonville neighborhood

Jacksonville residents are posting on social media about their concerns over speeding in the North Creek subdivision.

“We’ve had near encounters with people's animals, children. We have geese that are here,” neighbor Fran Connell said.

One resident even posted two surveillance videos of drivers barely missing geese that were walking across the street.

“I’ve actually had to stand out in the road before and stop traffic just so they won’t hit them,” Connell said.

We were in the same complex for the same problem back in April. Back then, we caught several drivers going well over the speed limit.

We took out our speed detector again Thursday and immediately caught people speeding.

Residents said going even 5 mph over the limit is too fast. The subdivision has winding roads, and cars are often parked on both sides of the street.

Residents also worry about children getting hurt.

“The speeders are really bad here and it's really dangerous because the high school is just right across form my house,” Connell said.

Connell says she’s even thought about installing signs on her own lawn to remind people to slow down.
