Reward increase for information about Fernandina Beach shooting death

Crime Stoppers is increasing a reward for information into the shooting death of Johnell Richo in Fernandina Beach in May.

He found with a gunshot wound in front of his home on Gum Street on May 1.

Wyllie Hodges, executive director of First Coast Crime Stoppers, said the reward is up to $5,000.

“Hopefully this will convince someone to talk and do the right thing,” said Hodges.

He said there’s been very little information about Richo’s death.

Police don’t believe that he was the intended target of the shooting.

Cedric Lee lived right down the road from Richo.

“He was a good man,” said Lee.

He said he thinks the reward could help find out who killed his friend.

“That’s good,” he said. “They need to find them.”

Police said they've passed out fliers in the neighborhood, hoping that anyone who knows something will come forward.
