Roaches close Italian restaurant

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Pest control was a major issue at the restaurant who topped the Restaurant Report.

Health inspectors visited Perard’s Italian Cuisine on Crystal Springs Road in Jacksonville. The health inspector found more than 30 live roaches, more than 40 dead roaches, and live flies in the kitchen and bar area. It was temporarily shut down.

At Frida Taquiera & Tequila Bar in St. Augustine, a health inspector found blueberries with a mold-like growth and issued a stop sale on 13 items, including pork, chicken and baked potatoes due to temperature abuse. The inspector also spotted expired flan in the fridge. The restaurant was fine during its follow-up inspection.

Pho Viet Vietnamese Noodle Soup in Atlantic Beach was visited by a health inspector. The inspector noted undercooked chicken, no sanitizer for dishes and temperature abuse of 10 items, including rice, spring rolls and noodles. A follow-up inspection is required.
