Robbery, abduction suspect accused in 24-hour crime spree appears in court

BAKER COUNTY, Fla. — The man accused of shoving a pizza delivery driver into a trunk before going on a 24-hour crime spree that spanned three counties appeared in court on Monday.

Cornelius Ruise, 32, with his family by his side, turned himself in Sunday night to the Baker County Sheriff's Office.

Ruise is accused of luring a woman pizza delivery driver and forcing her into the trunk of her car. The woman was able to jump out of the trunk while he was driving down the interstate.

Ruise attempted to rob a Dollar General in Union County then set fire to the woman's car in Baker County, according to police.

Baker County Sheriff's Office said Ruise is expected to be charged with arson in the county, but then he'll be taken to Duval County where he faces other charges.

Ruise is scheduled to make the first appearance at 1:30 p.m. in Baker County Court. Action News Jax is working to confirm the time of the court appearance.
