Rodent droppings, roaches close Panda Chinese Restaurant

This week health inspectors shut down three restaurants because of pest control issues.

At Panda Chinese Restaurant, a health inspector noted 12 rodent droppings, 30 ants in the storage area, and saw live and dead roaches.

The restaurant was temporarily shut down. The manager wasn't there, but we got her on the phone and at first she didn't acknowledge her pest control issues.

"We weren't aware we had rodent issues. We're back open. If we weren't compliant and clean, we wouldn't have any but we passed inspection and reopened," the restaurant's manager said on the phone.

Panda Chinese was allowed to reopen after a follow-up inspection.

At Jville Crab Shack, a health inspector noted nine live roaches in the kitchen, two dead roaches and no soap for employees at two hand washing stations. It was temporarily shut down.  A follow-up inspection was done but Jville Crab Shack still had some lingering issues, so another follow-up inspection is needed.

At Lucky Wok in Fernandina Beach, a health inspector noted five live roaches, four dead roaches, and no time marking on the cabbage to indicate when it will expire. Lucky Wok was temporarily shut down.

During a follow-up  inspection, there were lingering pest control issues. Lucky Wok met inspection standards during a second follow-up inspection.
