The Salvation Army of Northeast Florida said it is in “urgent need” of volunteers to help to ring the bells during the Red Kettle campaign.

The Salvation Army attributes the shortage of volunteers to “donor fatigue” due to an eventful hurricane season.

“The impact of the hurricane season only makes this year’s Red Kettle campaign all the more important,” said Major Bert Tanner, Area Commander for The Salvation Army of Northeast Florida. “All funds raised for hurricane relief go specifically to hurricane relief. But local families need services like our meal ministry and food pantry year-round. The need is growing in our community and we want to be able to meet that need.”

Volunteers are needed from 10 p.m. to 8 p.m. through December 23 at all locations throughout the area.
