Concourse reopens at Jacksonville airport after heavy smoke

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department is at the Jacksonville airport where a smoking moving sidewalk shut down Concourse A for over an hour.

A JFRD spokesperson confirmed there were no flames at the airport, but there was heavy smoke.

Jax Aviation Authority representative, Debbie Jones, says passengers from Concourse A were moved to Concourse C until the smoke cleared.

Jones also said they were forced to delay security checkpoints, so passengers need to expect delays.

JAX announced that passengers should check flight status with the airline before coming to the airport.

Departure boards at the airport are starting to show flight delays.

Concourse A reopened around 7:40 a.m.
