Authorities investigating possible child drowning in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible child drowning in Arlington.

Police tape could be seen in front of a home on Whispering Inlet Drive.

Two sources tell Action News Jax a 3-year-old boy was pulled from the water.

We're told someone was giving CPR to the boy before he was taken to the hospital.

JSO said the child was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

During a news briefing at 7:35 p.m. JSO confirmed they responded to a call at 4:54 p.m. about an unresponsive child in a pool.

The child was transported to an area hospital with life threatening injuries, but no foul play is suspected, according to police.

The parents and grandfather where at the home at the time of the incident, according to police, and a woman performed CPR until first responders arrived.

No details on how the child was found in the pool were available, but police did say the family is cooperating.

JSO Homicide is continuing to investigate.
