St. Augustine Shrine Club's Chowder Challenge for Children

The St. Augustine Shrine Club is hosting a Chowder Challenge for Children, featuring 20 local restaurants competing for the "Best Chowder in St. Augustine".

All net proceeds raised will benefit the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

It is a free event on Sunday, Feb. 25 at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre at 1340 C A1A S, St. Augustine, FL 32080. Gates open at 12 p.m. and the event starts at 4 p.m.

Four types of chowder will be represented: New England, Minorcan Conch, Seafood and Minorcan Clam.

A panel of judges chosen by event sponsors and dignitaries will blind-taste and and grade each of the chowders.

The top three winners in each category will be announced and presented their awards. A "People's Choice Award" allowing all attendees to fill out ballots for their favorite restaurant will also be presented.

The St. Augustine Shrine Club's mission is to "Provide the highest quality care to children with neuromusculoskeletal conditions, burn injuries and other special healthcare needs within a compassionate, family-centered and collaborative care environment."
