St. Johns County man arrested after reported incidents at Boy Scouts outing

A 75-year-old St. Johns County man was arrested for lewd and lascivious molestation and simple battery and booked into the Clay County Jail.

Stinson H. Lenkerd was arrested Thursday. He was a a volunteer aquatics director for a Boys Scout camping trip at Camp Echockotee in Clay County on Sept. 16-18.

On that Saturday, Lenkerd reportedly approached two boys and slapped them on the buttocks. He approached them a second time later on that day and slapped the boys on the buttocks while they were laying in their hammocks, his arrest report said.

During this encounter, one of the boys said he felt Lenkerd's finger penetrate through his clothing and touch his anus, authorities said.

Police later searched through Lenkerd's phone and found eight photos of Boy Scouts laying in their hammocks. Two of those photos were just of one of the two boys that were slapped on the buttocks, police reports said.
