Man dies after crashing bike on St. Johns County bridge

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a bicyclist that occurred in St. Johns County early Friday morning.

Troopers said Glenn Totemeier, 49 of Vero Beach, crashed his bike on the Mickler O'Connell Bridge on S.R. 312 just before 1:30 a.m.

Totemeier was biking on the bridge when he hit a concrete barrier wall.

He was thrown from his bike and fell from the bridge onto the ground below, according to FHP.

Totemeier was not wearing a helmet, troopers said. He died at the scene.
