St. Johns County Sheriff makes plea to find suspected identity thief

Courtney Sean O’Meara

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is trying to find a woman sought in connection with two outstanding warrants -- and they are calling her a person is interest in a forgery investigation.

Courtney Sean O’Meara, 33, is being sought on outstanding warrants of eight counts of fraud and for failure to appear.

Detectives say an Alabama man reported his identity was stolen -- and police idenitfied O’Meara as the suspect. She allegedly opened multiple accounts using the victim’s information to obtain money, goods and services.

O’Meara was arrested in April on one count of uttering a forged instrument and was released a week later after posting $2,500 bond. She never appeared in court.

O’Meara is also a suspect in a large scale mail theft investigation that occurred early this year in the St. Augustine South area.

She is also a Person of Interest in the theft of a St. Augustine South woman’s checkbook and the cashing of three fraudulent checks.
