ST. MARYS, Ga. — A man wanted for murder in the April shooting death of his girlfriend and aggravated assault for the injury of her 14-month-old daughter was taken into custody Thursday, the St. Marys Police Department said.
A warrant was issued for Roney Wilson at the end of April on one count of felony murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
Wilson's girlfriend, Jimeshia Gordon, 24, was shot at the Cumberland Oaks Apartments on April 25 in St. Marys. She later died after being taken to UF Health Jacksonville.
At the time of the shooting, Gordon's family told Action News Jax that Gordon's daughter Kamela was grazed by a bullet.
Wilson was arrested by officers of the Federal Marshal Fugitive Task Force on Thursday afternoon in Indiana. St. Marys police got a tip on August 15 that Wilson was spotted on August 12 at a pawn shop in Indianapolis.
Wilson is in the Marion County Jail in Indiana and is awaiting an extradition hearing to return to Georgia.
