State Road 100 (Google Maps)

Three children have been taken to  UF Health of Gainesville Tuesday after the Toyota in which they were riding hit a semitruck, according to the Bradford County Sheriff's Office.

The children and the driver were not wearing seat belts, the Florida Highway Patrol reported. The 4-year-old and 3-year-old suffered serious injuries and while the 1-year-old has minor injuries.

The driver of the semitruck suffered minor injuries and was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

FHP reported that the Toyota was traveling westbound when it crossed over to eastbound traffic and hit the semitruck. The semi's fuel tank ruptured in the crash, which caused diesel fuel to spill onto the roadway.

The accident had closed a section of State Road 100 just east of Starke.

Witnesses said that the driver of the Toyota had been driving recklessly for several miles before the crash and crossed the center lane numerous times.
